Family Photography at Taylorsville MetroPark
Family Photography – McMasters Shoot
I had the pleasure of doing a family photography shoot of an old friend, her sister and their children at Taylorsville MetroPark in Vandalia, Ohio.
About the Park
(from their website)
Taylorsville MetroPark contains exceptional examples of mature upland forest with many spring wildflowers, second growth woodlands, natural succession areas, a few aging pine stands, a few managed grasslands, and extensive floodplain forests along the Great Miami River Corridor.
I have done shoots in both the west and east parks. This particular family photography shoot is at the East park right off of US 40. We utilized the shelter (can be seen from the parking lot) which is located just west of the lot.
About the Shoot
It was a beautifully overcast day with light bouncing everywhere. We used the windows of the shelter a lot to shape the light and only had to add a bounce card a few times to fill up some shadows. I shot the whole session with my Nikon D5000. I had the 18-55mm kit lens, the Nikkor 85mm 1.8G, and the Tamron 70-300mm 4-5.6. I really like the 85mm for family photography, especially when in an area with a very busy background. The shallow depth of field really allows all the dead trees and fall colors to just blend into the background. The kids were a joy and I really had a great time doing this family photography shoot at the Taylorsville MetroPark.
Great shots Alex.
